Still Waitin’ On Firefox 3.5.10/3.6.4

As we are now a third of the way into June, still no updated release date for the upcoming Firefox 3.5/3.6 updates. Firefox 4.0 Beta 1 is still listed as tentative for June 24th. However, Firefox 3.7a5 is now on the list but as TBD. As you may recall Firefox 3.7 was going into the beta builds as Firefox 4.0, so this really is odd. Thunderbird 3.1RC2 Released

Mozilla Messaging has release the second Release Candidate for the upcoming Thunderbird 3.1. This release is intended for extension developers and beta testers. New features in Thunderbird 3.1 that require feedback include: New Quick Filter toolbar New Migration Assistant Saved Files Manager Several fixes to improve upgrading from Thunderbird 2 Several design improvements and corrections to the interface Stability, memory, and password handling improvements For more information and to download please see the Thunderbird 3.1RC2 Release Notes.

Microsoft to Buy AOL?

Most of the articles on The Microsoft Blog I don’t pay much attention to. However, the article Poll: Would Microsoft benefit from acquiring AOL? did catch my attention. I think I was more shocked that AOL is still around more so than Microsoft having interest in buying it. I voted (as did the majority of the readers) No! AOL is nearly dead and would be a giant waste of money! I suppose Microsoft figures they still have plenty of money to waste. They’ve only had to pay out billions in settlements and judgments from class-action and anti-trust law suits. So…

WTF is HTML5 and why should we care

For those unfamiliar with HTML5, it is going to be the next big update for the HTML coding standard. Some of the new elements in HTML5 include: Canvas Element: allows rendering of graphics (including those used in games) on the fly. What is nice about Canvas is this is done without the need for troublesome plugins such as Flash.
