Principles on purpose for Microsoft

As Firefox users it is easy for us to forget, overlook or even not notice the large (choke) hold Microsoft has on the browser market. For all intents and purposes, Microsoft has a monopoly on the browser market with Internet Explorer. Over the past couple years Firefox’s market share has grown tremendously in Europe. In January 2009 the European Commission (EC) stated its preliminary conclusion that “Microsoft’s tying of Internet Explorer to the Windows operating system harms competition between web browsers, undermines product innovation and ultimately reduces consumer choice.” Over the past couple months Mitchell has discussed on her blog…

Wal Mart Receipts

I noticed the other day after I made a purchase at my Walmart store, the new receipts are double-sided. My store (Alma School and Warner) is still in the process of transitioning from a regular Walmart into a SuperCenter (without a Garden and Automotive Center). A couple weeks ago they setup brand new registers which print out the double-sided receipts. The front as the store logo and phone number along with all the items purchased. The backside gives the total number of items sold along with the time/date and transaction information (including bar code). I imagine this is going to…

New Name and We Have Moved

This is the last of the blog name changes, we promise. We started with The Guru’s Thunderbird Blog then went to El Guru’s Thunderbird Blog. Both names were a bit long and plus having the name ‘Thunderbird’ in the domain could have been issue with Mozilla. We wanted a name that was catchy and would be easy to remember. So we are proud to announce the new blog name is The Email Mafia. We also have moved off of WordPress and are now sharing the same platform as El Guru’s Blog. Make note of our new address: emailmafia.net.

InfoLister

Note: Republishing from The FF Extension Guru’s Blog One of the neat features of Thunderbird is the ability to customize the client with Extensions, Themes and Plug-Ins. But sometimes there are problems a theme does something funky to your browser. Or may be an extension goes haywire and gets corrupted. There are so many possibilities of what could be the problem. If you have a lot of extensions installed, it is hassle to list them all. Whenever anyone posts on Go Firefox! a more advanced problem they are having the first thing I recommend they do is install the InfoLister…

Firefox 3.6 (Namoroka) Introduced

With the news of the upcoming Firefox 3.6, comes hope that Firefox 3.5 is nearing completion. As of press, Firefox 3.5 is scheduled for a Beta 4 release on April 14th [as I am watching the Mozilla Project Weekly Status meeting live it has been announced the release date has been pushed back a week] which means we could see the final release may be as early as June (which would only be six months later than the original projected release date for then Firefox 3.1). Firefox 3.6 is code named Namoroka after the national park located in Madagascar. The…
