Mozilla has released the 19th and final stability and security update for the Firefox 3 browser. For more information about What’s New in Firefox 3.0.19, check out the Firefox 3.0.19 Release Notes. Current Firefox 3 users may obtain Firefox 3.0.19 manually via the Check for Updates… option from the Help menu. Automatic upgrade (for those who have this feature enabled) should occur within the next 24-48 hours. Alternatively, users may also download Firefox 3.0.19 directly via getfirefox.com IMPORTANT: Firefox 3.0 is no longer supported, users should upgrade to Firefox 3.5 or 3.6 for continued support.

Mozilla Messaging has release the fourth update for Thunderbird 3.0. The new Thunderbird 3.0.4 update includes several security and stability updates [Thunderbird release notes]. Thunderbird 2.0 and older users should upgrade by downloading Thunderbird 3.0.4 directly via http://getthunderbird.com. Mozilla has released the first (there was no Firefox 3.6.1) update for Firefox 3.6 about a week early. Besides including 100 bug fixes, this emergency release also addresses a critical exploit discovered last week. Most notable in this release is a patch for a critical security vulnerability disclosed last week that could lead to remote code execution due to incorrect handling of a variable in the WOFF (Web Open Font Format) decompression routine. First off this post has nothing to do with underwear but rather Brief – feed reading extension for Firefox. I’ve been using this extension to handle all my RSS feeds for quite some time and never really had problems. Then a while back I started to notice that even though I have it set to automatically check for new feeds about every 10-minutes it wasn’t. Further when I opened Brief in a tab I would notice the progress bar was stalled at around 95%. If I pressed the ‘stop’ button and then did a manual check, it would work fine….
I’ve been trying to get several of my sites updated over the past couple hours. One the things I needed to do was replace the Download Firefox 3.5 image provided by SpreadFirefox.com with a new Download Firefox 3.6 image. Should be fairly simple, all I had to do was copy and paste the HTML code from the Spread Firefox site into my website code. I’ve done this many, many times before with no problems. This release is being made available for testing purposes only, and is intended for web application developers and the testing community.
