One question I tend to get a lot is ‘How Do I Clear My Cache and Cookies in Firefox?‘. I will give Microsoft kudos for making this process fairly simple (three steps) in Internet Explorer 9. Mozilla, on the other hand has made the process fairly complicated (more so with the newer Firefox versions). To get to the Clear All History window where you can select to clear cache, cookies and other data:
- Firefox 3.6 and Firefox 4 on Windows XP: Tools > Options > Privacy Tab >Link: clear your recent history.
- Firefox 4 on Windows Vista and 7: Firefox Menu > Options > Options > Privacy Tab >Link: clear your recent history.
Too many clicks and way too easy to get lost in all the menus. Here is simple shortcut that works on all versions of Firefox running on any version of Windows: CTRL+SHIFT+DELETE. This will bring the Clear All History window right up. I am so surprised that with Firefox 4 this was not something that can be done directly from the Firefox Menu.
I’m not sure of that long way to access to the recent history.
I’m using Fx4 on WinXP.
With the Firefox Button disabled (menu toolbar enabled): Tools -> Clear recent history…
With the Firefox Button enabled (menu toolbar disabled): History -> Clear recent history…
Isn’t that the same?
Thanks that was easy!
