Mozilla released Firefox 9.0 for desktop, Android and tablets on December 20, 2011. New stuff in this version:
- Added Type Inference, significantly improving JavaScript performance
- Improved theme integration for Mac OS X Lion
- Added two finger swipe navigation for Mac OS X Lion
- Added support for querying Do Not Track status via JavaScript
- Added support for font-stretch
- Improved support for text-overflow
- Improved standards support for HTML5, MathML, and CSS
- Fixed several stability issues
- Fixed several security issues
Note: AppTabs will always load on start up regardless if the Don’t load tabs until selected… preference is active.
Users of older versions of Firefox should be prompted to update within the next 24-48 hours. User can also go to to Help > About Firefox to update. Firefox 9.0 can be manually downloaded and installed at getfirefox.com as well. The next release will be Firefox 10.0 scheduled for January 31st, 2012.
