I saw this discussion in the mozillaZine Firefox Builds forum today in reference to Bug 836758 – Convert Panorama into an add-on and remove it from Firefox. It took me a minute to recall what the heck was Panorama/Tab Groups. Personas came to mind but then that was themes, not tabs. That is what Microsoft is using a an excuse for the lack luster sales of Windows 8. Microsoft is saying that PC Vendors didn’t make enough ‘enticing touchscreen tablets’ powered by Windows 8 for the 2012 Christmas season. Seems Microsoft had offered guidelines for hardware that they wanted on all Windows 8 machines (mainly touchscreens) to take advantage of Windows 8 touch interface. Linksys is the consumer division or Home Networking Business Unit of Cisco making networking equipment for home and small business users. This includes the all-in-one wireless router/hub/switch, wireless bridges, networking using your home’s wiring, etc. There has been rumors since last December that Cisco was going to sell off this division and those rumors included to Belkin. However, Linksys had previously denied such rumors. On Thursday, January 24th, Belkin announced they have enter into an agreement to acquire Linksys. Intel made a bit of a surprise announcement on Tuesday, January 22nd. They have announced they will be slowly discontinue production of desktop motherboards over the next 3-years when they will be out of the market completely. Intel says they are going to focus instead on on other aspects of the PC industry, such as reference designs for Ultrabooks and all-in-ones, along with its Next Unit of Computing (NUC).
