Firefox 28 Released

Mozilla released the next update for Firefox Desktop and Mobile (Android) users on Tuesday, March 18th. Firefox 28 for Desktop and Mobile included these updates:

Desktop Mobile

NEW

  • VP9 video decoding implemented
  • Mac OS X: Notification Center support for web notifications
  • Horizontal HTML5 audio/video volume control
  • Support for Opus in WebM

CHANGED

  • Now that spdy/3 is implemented support for spdy/2 has been removed and servers without spdy/3 will negotiate to http/1 without any penalty

DEVELOPER

  • Support for MathML 2.0 ‘mathvariant’ attribute
  • Background thread hang reporting
  • Support for multi-line flexbox in layout

  • Echo cancellation on apprtc.appspot.com fails (see bug: 974537)

FIXED

Depending on update settings, users should automatically be prompted to update to Firefox 28 or may do so manually via Help > About Firefox or downloading and installing via the getfirefox.com site. Mobile users should be prompted to approve an update or can do so via the Google Play Store. The next scheduled update is Firefox 29 on April 29, 2014.
