It amazes me how inexpensive SSD drives have become. Now Western Digital has M.2 1 TB SSD for under $100. For those who have PC’s either desktop or laptop which can support an M.2 type SSD drive this is a really great an inexpensive upgrade which can boost performance.
There are a few M.2 SSDs that are no-brainer upgrades in terms of value and performance and WD’s SN550 was one of them. With 1000GB (1TB) of storage for less than $100 and able to dish out data well above 2,000MB/sec, it made for a fabulous upgrade from a hard disk or older 2.5in SSD. The new SN570 replaces it’s venerable sibling and thankfully it still leaves you with change from $100 and boasts faster speeds too.
You get a 3,500MB/sec read speed – up from 2,400MB/sec and the write speed is higher too at 3,000MB/sec compared to 1,950MB/sec. Those are numbers equal to most of the fastest PCIe 3.0 SSDs out there. The maximum 1TB size will set you back $89.99, with 500GB at $49.99 and 250GB for $39.99 currently on Amazon. That’s cheaper than the likes of Samsung’s 980 while offering the same speeds.
