There is a reason for that warning!

In my earlier Manually Updating Add-ons to Work post I had added the warning: Forcing an add-on to work can cause unwanted behaviours including browser crash upon start-up. Familiarize yourself on how to use Firefox Safe-Mode. In the course of forcing an install of GreaseMonkey into Firefox 3.7a6pre (Minefield), this caused a major unwanted behaviour thus the reason for that warning. I had already forced several add-ons to work with Minefield. I restarted Minefield to complete the add-ons installation. Chrome Conundrums Resolved

Back in January I wrote about a couple Chrome Conundrums. They were how when I had Chrome window maximized I could not get to my hidden taskbar without pressing the Windows Key. Further if the Chrome was the active application (not in the background) my computer and/or monitor would not go into power save/sleep mode. A couple of months ago with one of the ‘silent updates’ of Chrome these issues were resolved. No Firefox 4 Beta 1 Today

With the long awaited releases of both Firefox 3.5.10 and Firefox 3.6.4 earlier this week, it seemed as if it were too much to hope for a Firefox 4.0 (formally 3.7) release today. Indeed it was, Mozilla is not going push out the first beta of Firefox 4 today or likely anytime soon. The Mozilla Releases page now has the release date as ‘TBD’. Release Candidate 1 is still scheduled for October 2010.

Firefox 3.5.10 Released

Firefox 3.5.10 was released on June 22. See complete Release Notes for full details. Auto-updates should be occurring in the next 24-48 hours, otherwise users may get the latest update by going to Help menu and selecting Check For Updates. Also, a reminder from Mozilla Developer Network, If you’re still using Firefox 3.0.x, this version is no longer supported and may contain security vulnerabilities. Please upgrade to Firefox 3.5 by downloading Firefox 3.5.10 from www.firefox.com. Next up is Firefox 3.5.11 scheduled for release around late July.

Firefox 3.6.4 Released

Mozilla has released the third (there was no Firefox 3.6.1) update for Firefox 3.6.4 on June 22. This update is the first with the plugin handler (like that of Google Chrome). Firefox 3.6.4 provides uninterrupted browsing for Windows and Linux users when there is a crash in the Adobe Flash, Apple Quicktime or Microsoft Silverlight plugins.
