Firefox 3.0.6 Released

Mozilla has released the sixth stability and security update for the current Firefox 3 browser. For more information about What’s New in Firefox 3.0.6, check out the Release Notes.  Current Firefox 3 users may obtain Firefox 3.0.6 manually via the Check for Updates… option from the Help menu. Automatic upgrade (for those who have this feature enabled) should occur within the next 24-48 hours. Alternatively, users may also download Firefox 3.0.6 directly via getfirefox.com

Tweak: Fx 3 Address Bar Part 2

I’ve recently received a couple more tweaks for dealing with the Firefox 3 ‘Awesome Bar’. Note: Tweaks do not work with Firefox 3.1! These are more updates to a couple of the tweaks: Number of Results – By default the Smart Location Bar will display a maximum of 10 or 12 results based on what is typed in the address bar. That Darn ‘V-Word’ Again

This time, documents dated around August 2005 from Windows Product Management Group advised Microsoft not to use ‘Vista’ generation name on “Home Basic”, instead only carry the Windows brand name. They also gave the same advice for the “Stater Edition” (not available in United States, Canada, Europe, Israel, Australia or New Zealand). Microsoft Ordered to Delete Browser

From the Associated Press/NewYorkTimes.com: BRUSSELS (AP) — The European Union said Friday that Microsoft’s practice of selling the Internet Explorer browser together with its Windows operating system violated the union’s antitrust rules. It ordered the software giant to untie the browser from its operating system in the 27-nation union, enabling makers of rival browsers to compete fairly. “Microsoft’s tying of Internet Explorer to the Windows operating system harms competition between Web browsers, undermines product innovation and ultimately reduces consumer choice,” the E.U. said in a statement.
