On May 1, 2006, a blog was born. The Firefox Extension Guru’s Blog that is. We debuted on Blogger but within a few months moved over to WordPress. The big Firefox news back in 2005 was the upcoming Firefox 2.0 due out later that year as well as the collapse of an anti-spam extension and the decision not to include Places in Firefox 2. Mozilla has released the final update for Firefox 3.5, 17th for 3.6 and the first for Firefox 4. These updates fixed several security issues & stability issues. Been a while since there’s been much news on the possible Microsoft/Yahoo! acquisition. This time however, it is Yahoo! board of directors, at least some of them who are “willing to entertain any legitimate offers or ideas to improve the Silicon Valley search giant’s prospects”. Mozilla is revamping the way Firefox add-ons are tested…Under the new proposal, add-on testing will be automated. Add-ons hosted on Mozilla’s website will be tested against any new Aurora and Beta builds and automatically marked as compatible unless some problem is discovered. For those add-ons that are not hosted on the official site, the updateURL mechanism will accomplish the same thing.
