Actually, some of this news is from a couple weeks ago. Not as much tablet news lately as there was earlier this year with the big trade shows. Acer Shipping 7M Android, 3M Windows Tablets in 2013 — If there was ever a doubt that Android was leading the tablet market. I find it a bit odd that Acer is planning on shipping some 3-million Windows based tablets this year. They did announced [IT World] last month they were going to ship Windows RT tablets, however they had complained that Microsoft needed to make improvements to the Windows RT platform. Okay, so it appears Google and/or Opera snitched complained to the EU that Microsoft was holding up their end of the agreement. Report: Google Told EU About MSFT Browser Ballot Issue
So, has anyone really felt they were “forced” to use Internet Explorer with Windows? It is not like Microsoft won’t allow you to download and install another browser (you do have to use IE to do that though). Further, how is bundling Internet Explorer with Windows anti-competitive? It is not like the makers of Chrome, Firefox or Opera are losing revenue because of Internet Explorer (may be with ads, but not the browser itself). I can think of one scenario where it would be “anti-competitive” would be if the other browsers were not free and neither was IE, unless it…
Last year Microsoft discovered and acknowledged there was “mishap” with Windows 7 SP1 sold in the EU. Since 2009 Microsoft has been required for new installs of Windows in EU to present a “Browser Ballot” pop-up giving the user the choice of which will allow the user to choose which browser they wanted to use. This was a result of an Anti-Trust investigation against Microsoft which claimed that Microsoft was being anti-competitive for bundling Internet Explorer with Windows. More so, the EU felt Microsoft having the most common operating system was forcing Windows user to use Internet Explore with out letting them know up front of…

Intel Unveils its new Mobile & Tablet Strategy at MWC 2013 – Further proof that Intel is leaving the PC board market. They have launched the dual-core Atom “Clover Trail+” SoC, the XMM…
Microsoft has made Internet Explorer (IE) available now to Windows 7 users. Automatic Windows Updates to IE10 will be coming in the weeks ahead for Windows 7 users. IE10 does not support Windows Vista or XP and Windows 8 users already have IE10. For those who are using Windows 7 and want to get IE10 now, can do so via the Internet Explorer Download Site. While I am not really one to use Internet Explore, I am glad to see Microsoft is still keeping the browser updated. This after not releasing any newer versions after IE6 for 5-years from 2001 to…

That is what Microsoft is using a an excuse for the lack luster sales of Windows 8. Microsoft is saying that PC Vendors didn’t make enough ‘enticing touchscreen tablets’ powered by Windows 8 for the 2012 Christmas season. Seems Microsoft had offered guidelines for hardware that they wanted on all Windows 8 machines (mainly touchscreens) to take advantage of Windows 8 touch interface. The manufacturers responded by claiming “….if they had followed Microsoft’s hardware requirements and invested in production, all they would accomplish is building a variety of high-end expensive tablets that consumers weren’t interested in.” So Microsoft is blaming the PC vendors for not…
