Follow-up: Thunderbird Super Nova removal

A quick  follow-up on the How To Uninstall/Downgrade Thunderbird 115 (Supernova) post. Since removing Thunderbird 115 aka Super Nova, I have not experienced any other freezes/crashes on my main machine. Again, that issue appeared to be caused by having repeating events in the calendar.

How To Uninstall/Downgrade Thunderbird 115 (Supernova)

Normally I do not experience issues with Mozilla and their redesigns. Of course, I haven’t used Firefox in years as it became too bloated. I had a family member who ran Pale Moon for that exact reason. I have stuck with Mozilla Thunderbird throughout the years as it has been a good desktop email client. However, this morning I booted up and noticed my Thunderbird icon on the taskbar was different and then when it launched it was way different. My use of Mozilla Thunderbird is to be able to have four Gmail accounts accessible in one centralized location and…

Gmail No Longer Allowing Users to use old Layout

First off, while I have several personal and one educational Gmail account, I was not aware Google Inc. 157,46 +0,58 +0,37% had made changes to the interface. I manage all my Gmail accounts via Mozilla Thunderbird email client (which ironically I also use to manage my Google Calendar). I might actually access the web interface maybe once or twice a year if I need to access one of the Gmail accounts on my laptop (not sure why I don’t have Thunderbird installed on that machine). When the new interface was rolled out earlier this year, users could go back to…

Mitchel Baker: Thunderbird Update

Note: While this post mostly pertains to Mozilla’s other project, Thunderbird I still felt it was important to post this here as to remind people that while Thunderbird is very different from Firefox, they are still both ‘interconnected’ within the Mozilla Foundation in regards to technical resources. Mitchel Baker, Chair of the Mozilla Foundation has posted an update on her blog about Thunderbird. She assures us that Mozilla is not ‘dropping’ Thunderbird. But, at the same time it is no longer effective for Thunderbird and Firefox to share the same technical infrastructure. Firefox and Thunderbird have diverging needs. Firefox needs to move at the speed…

Firefox Is Already Running (but it is not) Error

Once in a while Firefox or Thunderbird does not close gracefully. This could be caused by the application crashing or simply the application didn’t do some “housekeeping” after it closed. You go to run Firefox or Thunderbird and you get the message it is already running, but it is not. The majority of the time, going into the Windows Task Manager via Control+Shift+Esc and clicking the Processes tab you will find firefox.exe or thunderbird.exe listed. Highlight the process and click ‘End Process’ and confirm. Once the process has been ended, you should be able to launch the application again. But what…
