Mozilla has released the next version in the Firefox 1.5 branch. Per the release notes: Version 1.5.0.8 includes some minor security fixes:
- MFSA 2006-67 Running Script can be recompiled
- MFSA 2006-66 RSA signature forgery (variant)
- MFSA 2006-65 Crashes with evidence of memory corruption (rv:1.8.0.8)
Also this version will contain the upgrade feature (which for now is inactive) which will allow you to upgrade to Firefox 2. While I have not seen an exact date for this, it likely be around the time Firefox 2.0.0.1 is released (later this year). Still in several places Mozilla clearly states: “All users are strongly encouraged to upgrade to Firefox 2.” Also note, Mozilla will continue doing security updates for the Firefox 1.5 branch until April 24th, 2007 (six months from the release of Firefox 2).
