Stop Automatic Image Resizing

For some odd reason Firefox likes to resize images automatically so they will “fit in the browser window”. I have found this rather annoying and was glad to discover there is an about:config tweak to prevent this. Thanks to Ryan at CybertNet Forums for this here tip: In a new tab type about:config in the address bar or open the about:config editor Copy and paste browser.enable_automatic_image_resizing into the filter field Double-click the entry to change it to false Close tab or about:config editor and changes will take effect right-away. Firefox Password Manager Vulnerability

I’ve been so busy this past week with work I have not had a chance to keep up on the latest Firefox/Mozilla news. Earlier this week a major vulnerability was exposed for Firefox 1.5.0.8, 2.0, 2.0.0.1pre (not sure about 3.0a1pre) and SeaMonkey 1.0.6: “A vulnerability in Firefox handling of saved passwords has been announced today. Bon Echo 2.0.0.1pre

Last night when the usual nightly build update hit, I noticed something odd. I was getting a warning box informing me with this build several of my extensions were not be compatible. Odd, why would a nightly on the 2.0 builds do this? After I closed the warning box the installed went as normal. However when I restarted Firefox after the install I had a new tab open which was displaying a Mozilla 404 page. This page that is not found is What’s New Bon Echo 2.0.0.1pre. Firefox 3a1 Coming Soon

The first Firefox 3 (Grand Paradiso) developmental milestone, Alpha 1 is set for next Tuesday, November 28th. Not really sure yet what features are going to be a part of this milestone. I have heard over at CyberNet: Firefox 3 To Have Advanced Microsummaries and it will be Acid 2 compliant. But that is about all I know for now besides the fact it will be built off the Gecko 1.9 trunk (Minefield).

Exploding Notebook Batteries

Over the past couple months several notebook manufacturers have announced the recall of the batteries as they could over-heat and explode. PcPitStop put together a great video demonstration with a system that they created to purposely instigate a battery explosion.
