Get Mail Extension

Some folks have asked what happened to the “Get Mail” button that use to be in the older Firefox 1.5.0.X builds. For reasons not really clearly stated the developers opted to remove the button in Firefox 2. However, with the Get Mail extension, you can have the icon back. The extension works with Firefox 2.0 and newer. One word of warning this extension may not display correctly if you are not using the default Firefox theme. If this is the case you may want to inform the theme offer and see if they can provide icon support.

The sole reason we have not switched to Firefox 2.0 in our household
is the lack of an e-mail button/link on the menu bar. It may seem like a small thing but when you have been accessing your mail via
the toolbar since the dawn of windows it becomes second nature. It is
irksome to have to have go looking for your mail client, whatever it may be.

Yes, we see that a “GetMail” addin has been posted but I am being ask to register, why? I thought the open source community was just that, open, why do you want my e-mail address? To spam just like all the other windows programs who constanty ask you to register then
send you mountains of free or new deals, updates, etc that’s why.

GetMail 2.5.4 is your best bet. I think GetMail Plus 3.0 is only if you have problems with 2.5.4 launching your email client.
