Ubuntu Success!

Before I went to bed last night I started downloading the alternate desktop CD for Ubuntu. Checked this morning and it has successfully downloaded and as able to burn it onto a CD. Even better I was able to boot from the CD and get Ubuntu installed and working. So as the saying goes, “The third time is the charm!”

So far so good. Only minor problem I have had so far is I can’t set my resolution to 1440×900 so I am using 1280×960. Also for whatever reason I can not get Ubuntu to read my data drive. It will read it’s own drive and my Windows XP drive, but not my data drive.

Firefox is not much different in Ubuntu although at least one of the menu options is a little different. In Windows to get to your settings/options it is Tools > Options… In Ubuntu it is Edit > Preferences. I’ve installed a handful of extensions so far. WeatherBug and four of the AdBlock Plus extensions (I need to update this on my Windows build). So far I am only using Fx 2.0.0.3, I am going to try and get Fx 3.0 Alpha 4 on here soon.

You’ll have to post some screen shots too. I’d be interested how it all looks. 🙂
