Firefox 7 Aurora (7.0a2) Now Available

Mozilla has updated the Aurora Channel with Firefox 7.0. This is a developer’s preview and is NOT intended for everyday use.

What’s New in Firefox 7 Aurora:

  • Performance Enhancements: Faster startup time on Mac, Windows, and Linux
  • Optimized Memory Use:
    • Improved memory management: For many users, memory use is reduced by 30 percent or more, responsiveness is enhanced
    • The JavaScript garbage collector runs frequently to free up more memory when Firefox is idle
  • Firefox Sync: Bookmarks and passwords now sync instantly
  • Enhanced Font Rendering: Fonts are rendered clear and sharp
  • More!

User who have installed Firefox 6 Aurora (6.0a2) can update to Firefox 7 Aurora via Help > About Aurora and follow the prompts. Otherwise you can obtain a fresh copy of Firefox 7 Aurora here and select the Aurora download link. The final release for Firefox 7 is scheduled for September 27th, 2011.
