I think we have come to the point that our smartphones and tablets are more powerful than our traditional desktop/laptop computer. At their keynote address on Thursday, January 10th at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Samsung’s Stephen Woo announced the world’s first eight-core processor for smartphones and tablets, the Exynos5 Octa. However, it is not a true 8-core (or octa-core) as it is really 2 quad-core processors. My HTC Sensation phone only as a dual-core processor and the new (for 2012) Samsung Galaxy Note II phone/tablet as a quad-processor. Starting with Firefox 20, the ‘Esc’ key will no longer stop a page from loading or stop animated GIFs from animating. This change goes back to November of 2010 with Bug 614304 (ESC key aborts XMLHttpRequest and WebSocket). Without getting into too much technical details, pressing the Esc key can cause major problems for sites that use Web Apps that are coded in Ajax or use jQuerry. Touch screens are becoming more and more common. From Smartphones and Tablets to touchscreen monitors that take advantage of Windows 8 Metro Interface. Due to Mozilla skipping the 17.0.1esr branch for Thunderbird, automatic updates to this version will not work at this time. Users have two options, download and manually install Thunderbird 17.0.2esr over 17.0.0esr or wait until February 19th when Thunderbird 17.0.3esr will be released with a patch to address this update issue. Note: This does not affect the regular (non-organization) version of Thunderbird. User can auto-update from Thunderbird 17.0.0 to 17.0.2 via Help > About Thunderbird and clicking the Check for updates button.

Yes, 1 TB as in 1024 GB! Kingston had announced they had made the first 1TB USB stick during this weeks Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas. Tom’s Hardware was able to get their hands on one, well a prototype (as seen below) at least at CES. Given the Kingston 512 GB model has a price tag of a little under $1800, they are not going to have a working version of the 1 TB just out in the open.
