Note: This article deals with very old versions (3.5 and older) of Firefox. Please see See the article Password Exporter for Firefox 3.6 and newer. It is possible to import your saved passwords from one profile to another. This is handy if you are running Firefox on another computer or if you have to create a fresh profile when upgrading (or downgrading) Firefox. To do this, you will need to know where your profile folder is located. From Firefox 2 to Firefox 2: Close Firefox 2 In the OLD profile folder locate and copy the files: signons2.txt and key3.db In the NEW profile folder…

From top to bottom: Vista, Linux, Mac, XP: CyberNet News put together the above collage of the four Firefox 3 themes as part of their Firefox 3 Review. Personally, I didn’t care for the new Firefox 3 Vista Theme. Just a bit plain with the blue back and forward buttons against the light blue background. Even the home page icon is a bit bland as well. The good news is you can use any of the four themes by clicking on the desired link below. A couple notes, first switching between the XP or Vista Themes only changes the button…
As I have discovered once you load your Firefox 2 profile into Firefox 3, it is not going to work correctly again in Firefox 2. You will need to start a new profile if you want to go back to Firefox 2. You can however bring back over your bookmarks to Firefox 2. Backup Bookmarks in Firefox 3 In Firefox 3 go to the Bookmarks Menu and select Organize Bookmarks This will open the Library window. From here click on Import and Backup then select Export HTML.. You will be prompted to select a location to save the bookmark list….

There had already been talks about a delay of a day or two from the planned June 24th release date for Firefox 2.0.0.15. Originally this was due to slow check-in on patches which had delayed the initial code freeze. However, because of the Firefox 3 Vulnerability from earlier this week (that also affects Firefox 2), the release schedule for Firefox 2.0.0.15 now has the final release as July 1st. A re-spin was done on Friday (June 20th) and the new version will go back to Builds and QA on Monday (June 23rd). If all goes well it should be out…
It amazes me, just how many add-ons there are now for Firefox. Because of these add-ons is one of the reasons Firefox has become so popular. Even if you are not a librarian, this article is worth reviewing as you could easily find some very useful add-ons that you didn’t know existed. The 100 add-ons are divided into these 10 categories: Communication Organization Research & Citation Bookmarking Development Media Search Supercharged Browsing Privacy & Security Patrons The article was published on June 18th so most all of these add-ons will work with Firefox 2 as well as with Firefox 3…
On Thursday, June 12th two new versions (3.4.3 & 3.4.4) of AMO were pushed out. As mentioned in the Releases Recap: June Week 2 post, these new versions would have improved search capabilities. I did not have a chance to take a look at the new AMO site until recently. This had kinda gotten pushed back on my to-do list because of the (then upcoming) Firefox 3 release. The Guru and scores of other AMO users have complained about the lack of an Advanced Search feature in the new AMO 3.0.X releases. I mentioned this when I looked at the…
This extension is for those who always want the ‘Go’ button visible in Firefox 3 address bar, but don’t want to be bothered with editing their UserChrome.css as described in the Fx 3: Always Display ‘Go’ Button post. The extension is only for Firefox 3 and is 3 KB (my entire UserChrome.css file is smaller than this extension). Get Show Go!
