A much needed update to Firefox 2.0.0.8 has been released. The Firefox 2.0.0.9 update fixes these regressions caused by the Fx 2.0.0.8 release on October 19th. Users should be getting an auto-update prompt in the next 24-48 hours or can manually update now via Help, Check for Updates… As a reminder if you are still using Firefox 1.5, Mozilla has ceased support and updates six months ago. Users are strongly encouraged to upgrade to the latest Firefox 2 build. News Source: Mozilla Developer News

Here is a handy tip for dealing with a site that has animated GIFs, pressing ‘ESC’ key will pause animated GIF’s on a page (broken with Firefox 20 and newer). This works in both Firefox and Internet Exploiter. Note: in order to ‘resume’ the animation you will need to refresh/reload the page. You can test this out with the image below: Additional options via an about:config tweak: In a new tab type about:config in the address bar and press enter In the filter field type animation In the results listed double-click on image.animation_mode In the pop-up box type in one…
Adapted from Thunderbird How To Manage Profiles Your Thunderbird profile not only contains all your preferences and extensions but your e-mail folders and messages as well. Moving your profile is not that difficult. One thing to keep in mind though is your Thunderbird profile can get quite large depending on the size of the e-mail messages you have saved so you will need to copy it to a CD/DVD or Flash Drive. Step 1: Locate Your Profile Folder: On Windows 7, click the Windows Start button and type %APPDATA%\Thunderbird\Profiles\ in the Search box at the bottom of the Start…

Here are some thoughts about the Blip.tv Windows Vista video: A Combination of Windows CE + ME + NT – Never used Windows CE or ME (although my friend had it and didn’t seemed too difficult to work with). I’ve used NT in a corporate environment and it seemed to work fairly well, given it is a Microsoft product. Six Versions – I recall a while back when they were introducing Vista the six different versions. I have the Home Premium Edition. Not really sure how that compares to the Basic Home Edition (other than it must be better if…
Had I not already purchase a computer with Windows Vista, I would have second thoughts after seeing this video… Update 04/26/15 –BlipTV has removed this video. However, it lives on over at YouTube.

As mentioned in today’s Weekly Update, a serious regression involving Firefox 2.0.0.8 and JAVA (JRE 1.6 update 3)on Windows Vista ONLY has been identified. Bug 400467: Java broken on Vista after Firefox 2.0.0.8 upgrade (says Java Not Found, Or Not Working). Reviewing the bug report, the bug filer had upgraded to Fx 2.0.0.8 earlier that morning and attempted to launch/play a JAVA based game at Pogo.com and was told that they could access the site with IE7. There is a possible work-around for this: Right click Firefox icon and choose “Run as administrator” Accept UAC prompt Enter any site which…
