The newest Thunderbird 3.0a1pre nightly (062707) now has tabs support. It doesn’t work very well, but it is important to keep in mind TBird 3.0 is still in very early development (not even an official Alpha release yet). A couple minor quirks, the close tab buttons are there but don’t do anything (need to right click on the tab and select “Close Tab’). Also double-clicking a message will cause it to open in a new window. You will need to right-click on the message and select ‘Open Message In New Tab’ option. TBird 3 is also very unstable as it…

I decided to make the Fx 2.0 Tweaks more easily accessible so I have created a Tweaks page. By creating it as a page, it will be right on the blog header now. No more having to search or going to the popular posts page to find the Tweaks. In order to make room for this new page on the header I combined the About Firefox and About the Guru pages into one About Fx & The Guru.
I had a very good comment/question from Sarah today about the Firefox 2.0: Removing ‘Go’ Button entry: How can I remove the Search Box in top RIGHT corner of the FF2.0.0.4 competlely. or atleast reposition it to LEFT side. I use googe tool bar and which has search box the LEFT side and I am addicted to use the searh box on the LEFT side. At the moment I have TWO serch boxes and I do not want the one on the topRIGHTside. Moving or even removing the Search Box is really easy. No about:config or userContent.css tweaking need. All…

Recently a comment was left on my Get Mail Extension stating the add-on was no longer on AMO (addons.mozilla.org) and provided a link to his Toolbar Buttons extension. Once installed and you restart Firefox (SunBird, Flock or Thunderbird) right-click on the toolbar and select ‘Customize…’ , you will discover a treasure trove of new toolbar buttons. Simply drag and drop the buttons to your toolbar. Important: be sure to click ‘Done’ when finished. If you click the X instead, your changes will not be saved. A couple buttons I found useful were Undo Close Tab and Check for Update (much…

I’ve received a couple e-mails concerning the link in the Get Mail Extension entry not working. After a little research I found out the extension was no longer on the main AMO (addons.mozilla.org) section or even in the sandbox. Further research via Google I found out the author’s site for Get Mail (he also did ChromEdit Plus) extensions. From the Get Mail FAQs: When AMO recently updated their site… It was MY personal decision to remove ALL of my extensions from AMO at this point in time. All of his extensions are hosted on his webdesigns site. The link in…
Extension developers have been told they need to make their extensions work for Fx 2 or they will be removed from the general Mozilla Add-ons site. Starting July 9th any extensions that does not work with Fx 2.0 will be moved into the Sandbox. There is really no excuse for the extension developers not to have working versions for Fx 2 other than they don’t want to. It is not like they haven’t had enough time given Fx 2 was released in October 2006 and support for Fx 1.5 was suppose to end in April but was extended until late…
