Issues with Drop-Downs Fixed

It appears WordPress has fixed the issue with the drop-downs I am using for the Archives and Tags selection. The archives should now default to ‘Select Month’ while the Tags one should default to ‘Select Category’. If they are still displaying something else for you do a force reload (CTRL+F5) and that should correct this.

A couple short (about a minute and half each) video clips from an interview with Michell Baker, Chief Lizard Wrangler (CEO) of Mozilla. She discusses various topics including a couple dealing with Microsoft, Internet Exploiter…err I mean Explorer as well as doing away with the “perceptions” of open-source. Sorry, I am not able to embed these clips into this post so you will have to visit the link below to watch them. Thunderbird 1.5 Support Ending Soon

Mozilla’s support policy is an older version (in this case 1.5) of an application will (normally) be support for six months after the release of the new version. However there are exceptions, take for instance Firefox 1.5. Given this rule, support should have ended back on April 24th. However the final build (1.5.0.12) was not ready as anticipated so support will officially end when 1.5.0.12 is released on or around May 22nd. On April 18th, Thunderbird 2 was released which means support for Thunderbird 1.5 will end on October 18th. Keep in mind TBird 1.5.0.12 will be released the same…

Dell + Ubuntu & OpenOffice.org

Over the past few weeks I been following the news that Dell is now offering on some new systems with Ubuntu (Linux) and OpenOffice.org instead of Windows Vista and Office 2007. Today I came across the article Microsoft you had a good run over at One Post At a Time: It seems Microsoft & Windows had a good run for last possible 20 years but as always change happens and seems its Microsoft time to say we give up Microsoft Windows Vista have been latest problem for Microsoft as so many people have said bad things about it – software…

Let the Celebration Begin!

Tuesday, May 1st will mark the One Year Anniversary of the beginning of the Firefox Extension Guru’s Blog! I can not believe it has already been a year! Yep, started out over at Blogger but would later move over to WordPress (see New Blog Home). Here’s the post that started it all: A Blog is Born! In all honesty I was not sure if the blog would be a success, but judging by these stats (from September 6th to present) I would say it has: Posts^: 391 Comments: 631 Views: 170,000+ Most Views in One Day: 3,050 Subscribers*: 79 Spam…

Blog Improvements

The folks over at WordPress have once again added a nice feature. This time they have added Clouds and Drop Downs for the categories. While I am not much one for tag clouds (the bigger the tag the more popular it is) I do like the new drop down option. One of the reason I had “cleaned-up” the tag list a couple months ago was because of how much space it took up on the sidebar. But now they have been place in to a nice little drop down menu. Even better the archives are now in a drop down…

How to Install Windows Vista

One of the reasons I have not upgraded to Windows Vista (besides that I don’t see any need to) is compatibility issues. My system is a few years old and at the time I had it built was when I finally upgraded to Windows XP. This video will show you how to install Windows Vista in about two minutes… [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVbf9tOGwno]

Go Firefox! Removed From Blogroll

Over the past months I have received several complaints about the link to Go Firefox! in the Blogroll.  These complaints stem from Prospero’s (provider for Delphi Forums) advertisement policy. Simply put whenever an unregistered/non-paying (Delphi Forums) user visits a link to a forum such as Go Firefox! they are immediately presented with a full screen ad before they are allowed to proceed into the forum. I have also heard reports (unconfirmed) these ads leave adware/spyware and/or tracking cookies on visitors computers. Also Prospero makes it (I am sure intentionally) unclear that there is an option to “Skip This Advertisement“, usually…
