I knew I had posted about Firefox in 2010, as it turns out it was at the end of 2009. Okay so for 2010 Mozilla planned to release:
Legacy
Well sort of. Back then it was being called “Mozilla Developers Preview (1.9.3 alpha)”. The odd naming was due to this being a preview of the new Gecko 1.9.3 rendering engine and what likely would have become Firefox 3.7 (Firefox 3.6 runs on Gecko 1.9.2.x) . There were a total of five Alpha releases between February and June 2010. Then it was decided to scrap Firefox 3.7 as well as Gecko 1.9.3 and move everything on to Gecko 2.0 and then also start labeling the releases as Firefox 4 Beta in July 2010. So, here we are 1-year later and…
awer commented on the Firefox 4 Beta 11 Released post: I like that the new connection status messages are now in a overlay on the bottom. It is very good, they are only there when needed. I was not aware of this new update with Beta 11 as I learned the Status-4-Evar extension overrode that behavior. Once I disabled Status-4-Evar and restarted I was able to see what the commenter was talking about. While a page is loading you will get an overlay of the loading status just above the add-ons bar. This is similar to the behavior of Chrome…
Mozilla has pushed back the updates scheduled for today for Firefox 3.5 and 3.6. The new (tentative) release date is now February 14th. Yep, Valentine’s Day and a Monday no less.
Mozilla released the eleventh beta for Firefox 4.0 on February 8th. This is a regular beta release and is being made available for testing purposes only. New stuff in this Beta 11 release: Support for the proposed Do Not Track (“DNT”) header Connection status messages are now shown in a small overlay WebGL has been re-enabled on Linux The default homepage design has been refreshed Firefox no longer switches into offline mode automatically See the complete changelist from the previous beta For more info see the release notes for Firefox 4 Beta 11. The next planned release is the Beta…

I really don’t think Mozilla is going to get Firefox 4 out this month. While checking the release schedule for this weekend’s Release Recap I noticed two things. First, no official date listed for Beta 11 and second added to the list is Firefox Beta 12. Update: According to PCMag.com, Beta 11 is done but may not be released until early next week. While Beta 12 is suppose to address some issues including those related to Flash and Hotmail.

On February 10, 2010, Mozilla released Firefox 3.7 Alpha 1. Yes, that is correct version number 3.7. Since it was still being built on the Gecko 1.9 rendering engine and was supposed to be an update to Firefox 3.6 (features/changes that were not ready in time for Firefox 3.6 would be implemented into this version). So here we are a little under two-weeks from the anniversary of this release. So what happened in the past year? Let’s see the numbering (and purpose) was changed to Firefox 4 when the first Beta on the Gecko 2.0 rendering engine was released back…
Mozilla released the tenth beta for Firefox 4.0 on January 25th. This is a regular beta release and is being made available for testing purposes only. New stuff in this Beta 10 release: Compatibilty and stability improvements when using Adobe Flash on Mac OS X Improvements in memory usage Support for a graphics driver blacklist to improve stability See the complete changelist from the previous beta For more info see the release notes for Firefox 4 Beta 9. The next planned release is the Beta 11 then (maybe) moving in to the Release Candidate (RC) builds.
