I had mentioned in the TBird 3 (Shredder) Alpha 2 Released post, I was not too thrilled with the ‘new’ logo. As it turns out this is not a new logo after all. Kevin left the following comment: That’s actually a really old logo. They used it a long time ago and must be using it again for trunk development. Further after I posted about “The Logo” in the CyberNet Forum, I was directed to A History of Thunderbird (Wikipedia). Turns out this indeed the original logo: Click for full-size I am just trying to understand why they are using…
Turns out there is a much easier way to edit TBird message tags. I was not even aware there was an option (albeit a little buried) until FreeJeff left this informative comment: You can configure tags to your heart’s content by simply going to Options > Display > Tags. Add, delete, edit title and/or color, whatever. About:config is completely unnecessary. Oh, so there is a ‘Tags’ option in the Display settings. Whoops, guess I should have looked thru the options menu first. Click for full-size Thanks for the info FreeJeff!
Since I want to see how the whole message tagging system worked on TBird 3 (Shredder), so I went ahead downloaded and installed TBird 3 Alpha 2. This is it for the Thunderbird 3 Alpha builds. After I got Alpha 2 installed I changed over to the ‘Nightly’ Update Channel and downloaded Shredder/3.0b1pre. Cain’t say I am too thrilled with the new logo… What’s New in Shredder Alpha 2 There were over 300 bug fixes in this release, many laying the groundwork for future changes. Some notable changes include: Integration improvements Shredder can import mail from Mail.app on Mac OS…
Most of the tips posted here have been for Firefox 2/3. However this time around we have a Thunderbird 2/3 tip. Alex commented on the Thunderbird 2.0 Message Tags post: There must be some way to change the default tags. i like the tags themselves, but the default tags are kind of annoying. Any tricks for getting around this one? Yes, but you will need to have the About:Config add-on for Thunderbird (see TBird about:config for instructions). Note you could also access the editor from Tools, select Options…, Click the Advance Tab, select (if it is not already) the General…
