While nothing official has been released by Microsoft, The Times of London is reporting Microsoft Corp. has resumed its pursuit of Yahoo in a deal that could cost the Redmond-based company $20 billion, less than half of what it offered for the search site this summer. Microsoft has put forward Jonathan Miller, ex-chairman and chief executive of AOL, and Ross Levinsohn, a former president of Fox Interactive Media, to lead a new management team at Yahoo under a 10-year agreement. Microsoft would have a two-year option to buy Yahoo outright for $20 billion. The report also says senior management at…

January 2008 With the start of 2008 came a handy “how-to” guide for moving Netscape 9 users to Firefox 2. Recall, AOL had announced they would discontinue support for Netscape 9 (based off of Firefox 2) in February 2008. While the below “We Remove Vista…” photo was taken back in October 2007 at A&D Computer in Milford, NH it appeared in Todd Bishop’s Microsoft Blog (now The Microsoft Blog) in late January. Included in January were three Add-Ons Reviews. Organize Search Engines, allowed Firefox users with lots of search engines a better management system to keep their search engines organized….

2008 Blog Year in Review (BYIR) January, February and March April, May and June July, August and September October, November and December
First off, a Happy Thanksgiving from The Guru. This long weekend also marks the start of The Blog Year in Review 2008. Going to do this a little different this year as for formatting. Instead of doing 1-month per post as in the past, I am going to try and do 3-months per post. Here is a tentative release schedule (much like that of Firefox 2, 3 and 3.1 or that of any Mozilla project it is subject to change)… January, February and March – November 30th April, May and June – December 13th July, August and September – December…

On Tuesday, November 25th, the build for Firefox 3.1b2 was handed off to QA for testing. Normally this process takes about 7-days for QA to sign-off on the builds. However, because of the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday, the sign-off is not expect to happen until December 5th. So it looks as if we will have to wait a couple more weeks before Beta 2 is released. Good news is Mozilla is still target the final Firefox 3.1 release for 1st quarter 2009.
On Wednesday, December 3rd Tuesday, December 2nd, Mozilla is going to give Firefox 2.0.0.18 users another opportunity to move over to the new Firefox 3.0.4 via the Major Update. This update will not work with releases prior to 2.0.0.18, users will need to upgrade to the 2.0.0.18 release in order to get offered the Major Update. As a reminder with the expected release of Firefox 2.0.0.19 on December 16th, this will be the end of support and updates for Firefox 2.0.0.X product. Users are urged to upgrade (if their systems meet the requirements) to Firefox 3. There is expected to…
