Apparently, Mozilla Messaging had released Thunderbird 3 beta 3 back on July 21st. Usually, there is plenty of news about Thunderbird 3 developmental releases, however for reasons unknown there was no post on David Ascher’s Blog. Even odder was with this week’s Mozilla Project Status Meeting for Thunderbird 3 was no report. It was not until this week’s issue of about:mozilla was published did I learn that Thunderbird 3 Beta 3 had shipped and that it had done so the week prior. Thunderbird 3 Beta 3 is now available for download. This milestone is focused on testing the core functionality…

A huge milestone has been reached today with the Firefox download counter rolling over to 1 Billion (that is 1 with nine zeros at the end!) To think, a little under a year and half ago (February 22, 2008) Firefox had just reached the 500 Million Downloads milestone. Percy has this interesting factoid: One notable thing is the first half of the billion took about 3 years and a half, while the second one less than a year and a half, due to Firefox popularity reflected in the global market share increase, currently hovering 30%. Looking back at an old…

It was back in April when I first mentioned about Firefox 3.6 (Namoroka). At that time Mozilla had indicated a release date of around May 2010 and much bigger ‘goals’ of what was going to be included in this release. Now, fast forward 3 1/2 months to this past Monday’s Mozilla Project Weekly Status Meeting….suddenly the time line as well as the ‘goals’ for Firefox 3.6 have dramatically changed. First, the time line has been moved up by about 6 to 8 months. Mozilla is projecting a final release of Firefox 3.6 by mid to late this fall as a…
Those who used the old Netscape Browser in the past may be familiar with this add-on. Link Pad is a very simple add-on that is part notepad, part bookmarking system. Given my busy schedule, I only get a couple day at the end of each week to really sit down and put together in-depth blog entries. However, I am coming across items I want to blog throughout the week and it is not always easy to keep track of all these items. In the past I would resort to leaving the item I wanted to blog about open in its…

Just Released Firefox 3.5.2 – July 16th Schedule this Coming Week Firefox 3.0.12 – July 21st Future Release Firefox 3.0.13 – Sept 1st Firefox 3.5.2 – End July/Early August
Firefox 3.5.1 was released earlier today. This ‘firedrill’ release addresses issues with slow start-ups on Windows builds as well as a recent CRITICAL vulnerability discovered in the TraceMonkey Java Script Optimizer. This vulnerability can be used to run attacker code and install software, requiring no user interaction beyond normal browsing. Non-critical fixes and enhancements which were planned for the original Firefox 3.5.1 release will be implemented in the upcoming Firefox 3.5.2 release currently scheduled for release at the end of July or early August. Auto-updates should be occurring in the next 24-48 hours, otherwise users may get the latest update…
