Firefox 6.0.x user can get the update via Help > About Firefox or download it directly here. The next major release will be in another six-weeks on November 8, 2011 with Firefox 8.0 which will be pushed out to the Beta channel later this week.
Just FYI – as of 28-Sept-2011 @10am UTC-4,
“Help – About Firefox” is showing 6.0.2 as current
(though the “getfirefox site does indeed download 7.0)
Could be having trouble connecting to the release server. I see no reason why you can not go from 6.0.2 to 7.0 as there are no changes in the system requirements .Is the messages you are seeing is: Firefox is up to date? and You are currently on the release update channel.
Yes to both – I’m on the release channel and it said it is up to date (after the spinning thingy indicating that it was checking).
I manually updated to 7.0
Might be something to do with my settings at work machine… I get some funky stuff from time to time on this machine when connected through the network.
I also got the “you client is up to date” when i tried to do the manual check. I was on 6.0.2. I have manually updated now.
