New Windows 11 Features Coming This Month

Finally, some good news regarding Windows 11 after what seems like a new issue or two every week stemming from the Windows 11 2022 Update (22H2). As mentioned prior Microsoft Corporation 454,46 +2,87 +0,64% plans on adding new features to Windows 11 when they are ready instead of tying said features to particular release. Coming ‘later this month’ (not sure if this will be on this month’s ‘Patch Tuesday’ which ironically is the 11th) will be the additional set of experiences for Windows 11 users such as the Tabbed File Explorer and improved taskbar.

Note: The new features are only going to offered to users who have already installed the Windows 11 22H2 update. These features will not be offered to those still running the initial release version of Windows 11 (21H2) even if your system is currently being blocked from getting the 22H2 update.

That October update is available for Windows 11 22H2 users in the Release Preview Insider channel, the last stop for new Windows updates before they make their way to the general public. Most significantly, it includes the long-awaited addition of tabs for File Explorer, a feature Microsoft has tested since Windows 10’s heyday. There’s also improved handling of overflow icons on the taskbar when you have too many apps open or pinned (or both) and expanded options in the “nearby sharing” menu that can use Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to exchange files between PCs on the same network.
