Trying Ubuntu Very Soon!

Over the weekend while I was at my local Wal Mart (aka Evil Empire) store I stopped in the electronics department and noticed they had some 80 GB internal hard drives on clearance. I decided since they still had a few left and this is not something that is going to go flying off the shelf, I would wait until this weekend. Last night I found an even better deal. I was asking some Questions about installing Ubuntu on the CyberNet Forum. Later that evening I got a message from one my friends over there offering to send to me…

Weekly Update 2007-05-07

Here is what happening since last week: Fx 1.5.0.12 & 2.0.0.4 – A bug in Windows NT 4.0 build of Fx 2.0.0.4 RC1 was discovered last week. This will require a re-spin of RC2 which in turn is going to delay the final release of Fx 1.5.0.12 & 2.0.0.4 builds. Since they are having to do a re-spin on RC2, they will also take that time to correct four other bugs which have come up while testing RC1. The new RC2 build should be ready on Tuesday. Betas have been pushed back until May 15th now. Fx 3/Gecko 1.9 Alpha…

Issues with Drop-Downs Fixed

It appears WordPress has fixed the issue with the drop-downs I am using for the Archives and Tags selection. The archives should now default to ‘Select Month’ while the Tags one should default to ‘Select Category’. If they are still displaying something else for you do a force reload (CTRL+F5) and that should correct this.

Thunderbird 1.5 Support Ending Soon

Mozilla’s support policy is an older version (in this case 1.5) of an application will (normally) be support for six months after the release of the new version. However there are exceptions, take for instance Firefox 1.5. Given this rule, support should have ended back on April 24th. However the final build (1.5.0.12) was not ready as anticipated so support will officially end when 1.5.0.12 is released on or around May 22nd. On April 18th, Thunderbird 2 was released which means support for Thunderbird 1.5 will end on October 18th. Keep in mind TBird 1.5.0.12 will be released the same…

Dell + Ubuntu & OpenOffice.org

Over the past few weeks I been following the news that Dell is now offering on some new systems with Ubuntu (Linux) and OpenOffice.org instead of Windows Vista and Office 2007. Today I came across the article Microsoft you had a good run over at One Post At a Time: It seems Microsoft & Windows had a good run for last possible 20 years but as always change happens and seems its Microsoft time to say we give up Microsoft Windows Vista have been latest problem for Microsoft as so many people have said bad things about it – software…

Let the Celebration Begin!

Tuesday, May 1st will mark the One Year Anniversary of the beginning of the Firefox Extension Guru’s Blog! I can not believe it has already been a year! Yep, started out over at Blogger but would later move over to WordPress (see New Blog Home). Here’s the post that started it all: A Blog is Born! In all honesty I was not sure if the blog would be a success, but judging by these stats (from September 6th to present) I would say it has: Posts^: 391 Comments: 631 Views: 170,000+ Most Views in One Day: 3,050 Subscribers*: 79 Spam…
