Search is Back!

Whoops! It seems when we switched the theme and redid the sidebar widgets the search widget got removed. The search widget should now be showing up at the top of the sidebar. If it is not, do a hard refresh (CTRL+F5) to force Firefox to reload the page from the sever instead of the cache.

Weekly Update 2007-03-12

I would have thought there was going to be some news about the upcoming Fx/TB 1.5.0.11 & Fx 2.0.0.3 builds in today’s update meeting. Strange though there is not, there is section in the agenda for this topic, but nothing there. I’ll check tomorrow and see if they have updated the notes. Meanwhile, TB 2.0 code freeze has gone as planned with another “RC” community test day planned for this Friday. One last thing not sure what was going on this past weekend but there were not nightly builds form Fx 2.0.0.3pre or TB 2.0 on Saturday or Sunday. But…

Update: Fx Add-ons Overhaul

Some how I missed posting this info last week. Here is the latest on the Fx Add-ons site overhaul via Mozilla Webdev blog: March 5 – Migrate the add-ons database and update preview.addons.mozilla.org March 5-12 – Community testing of preview.addons.mozilla.org, ongoing bug fixing and polishing March 12-15 – Final bug fixes and adjustments based on community testing and feedback March 15 – Deployment of new addons.mozilla.org So in theory we could be see the new, improved and overhauled Fx Add-ons site later this week. I took a look at the “preview” site earlier and noticed the performance has improved. However…

ActiveX & Fx 2.0

We recently an e-mail in our Info box asking about an ActiveX plug-in for Firefox 2. I thought at first this is a rather odd question, of course there is an ActiveX plug-in for Fx 2. Why wouldn’t there be? After some extensive research I discovered there is NOT an ActiveX Plug-in for Fx 2 and likely won’t ever be. Okay, so now why isn’t there is an ActiveX plug-in for Fx 2? For starters, ActiveX is Microsoft technology and Firefox is not a Microsoft product. I think the main reason (and a valid one at that) why Mozilla choose…

Big Changes!

After dealing with a broken theme for the last couple days I decided it was time to make some changes. For one, I went back to a two-column theme, frankly three-column are just to much (and is if three weren’t bad enough WordPress.com offers a four-column theme). With the three-column the content was just too narrow. I think the display problems over the last couple days were tied to the Garland theme as well as some of the sidebar widgets. For a while now I been wanting to make a custom header for my blog, something that I could also…

Yes, it’s still broken!

Still having display issues with my blog in Fx (and still it is flawlessly in IE). I have a feeling the theme is the culprit. I say this because our sister blog displays flawlessly in both Fx and IE. I’ve been playing with the idea of doing a custom image header too, but I need to find one that will work with my FeedBuner headline animator. I’ll see what it looks like tomorrow and take it from there.

Do Not Adjust Your Monitor!

The Firefox Extension Guru’s Blog along with many other WordPress Blogs are currently displaying rather oddly in Firefox and other Gecko based browsers. Sadly, they are displaying just fine in Internet Exploiter! WordPress is aware of the issue and is working to get this fixed ASAP. Keep checking back and be sure to do a force reload (CTRL+F5). We appreciate your support and patience while we wait this out.

Fx 3 2007/03/06 Update

Very little to report out of today’s Firefox 3 status meeting. The latest news on Places is expect to see something (may not be fully functional) shipped with the Alpha 4 build the end of this month. Okay so this week they are saying Alpha 4 by the end of the month. But wait…last I looked Fx3/Gecko1.9 are only on Alpha 2 right now. Okay I’m confused. So now I am wondering just when is Alpha 3 going to ship? I would expect this might be discussed in tomorrow’s Gecko 1.9 status meeting. Then I noticed something when I was…

Fx 1.5.0.11 & 2.0.0.3 Details

[digg=http://digg.com/software/Fx_1_5_0_11_2_0_0_3_Bug_Fixes] Last night I mentioned about the upcoming release (either this week or next week) for Fx 1.5.0.11 & 2.0.0.3 builds to address some serious regressions. Here is some more detailed information about these four regressions. Bug 370136 prevents Firefox from automatically obtaining a certificate when there are two or more valid certificates for a website. This bug has been fixed Bug 371525 is a result of the change in the way password manager works in the new Fx 1.5.0.10/2.0.0.2 builds. This is regression is not a security issue, just an annoyance. If you have multiple accounts for a site,…

Weekly Update 2007-03-05

Sorry this is so late, currently working on a new project with my web design business. Anyway, some big and interesting news from today’s Weekly Update Meeting: The developers are still working on plans for Major Update. Looks like they won’t be doing 1.5.0.10 > 2.0.0.2 as planned (see next item). Due to a small number of serious regressions there are going to be a Fx 1.5.0.11 & 2.0.0.3 releases. Code freeze is set for Tuesday night. I am guessing these will be released next Tuesday (2007/03/13). See Mozilla Developers Center for more details. Fx 1.5.0.12 & 2.0.0.4 releases therefore…
