FCC Requiring ISPs to Display Labels for Speed and Pricing

When it comes to Broadband service, the price you see on a provider’s site is NOT the price you are going to pay. Add in equipment rental, surcharges, fees, taxes, etc. and you are looking at another $10-$20 a month above the listed price. Furthermore, that price may be an introductory rate and then goes way up when the period ends (been there with my ISP). What about speed? Do they throttle your speed (or worse charge a fee) if you exceed your maximum allotted monthly bandwidth? The FCC want to make Broadband speed and pricing more transparent. As part…

Have You Tried Restarting?

It is a running Tech Support joke: The user is asked if they have restarted their device. It is recommended you restart your devices (phones, tablets, music players and even PC’s) at least once a week. The 2-5 minutes it takes for the device to restart will save you a lot of time in the future with the increased performance. This is even more important for PC’s. A little background: Last week as I normally do towards the end of the week I pre-order our weekend pizza on Dominos. However, this time around Chrome refused to load the site and…

Clippy is back (just in time for the Holidays)

Twitter Quickly Imploding?

Really wondering how much longer Twitter is going to last with Musk at the helm.  Advertisers are leaving, sign-up for the new $8 USD a month Twitter Blue (his grand idea to bring Twitter back into the black) are halted due to rampant fraud and imposter accounts (not to mention it was only available on iOS). Of course, he can not say he wasn’t warned the (paid) Blue ‘Verification’ checkmark with the new Twitter Blue was going to have major issues. He can’t say he wasn’t warned what we saw with all the fake accounts wasn’t going to happen. “Motivated…

SpaceX purchasing ‘Large’ Twitter Advertising Package

With advertisers fleeing Twitter due to various concerns about Elon Musk which could result in Twitter to having to declare bankruptcy, Elon Musk has come up with a plan to boost advertisers’ confidence. This plan involves SpaceX advertising their Starllink satellite Internet service to Twitter users in Spain and Austria. Nope, this in not a joke. So far SpaceX has purchased a ‘large’ advertising package on Twitter for a mere $160K (though this number could top $250K). Part of Twitter’s financial distress is the fact Twitter has not been profitable since 2019 is the fact when Musk purchased Twitter last…
