Oops! Our Feed Was Experiencing Technical Difficulties

Earlier this week I noticed I wasn’t getting feed updates for the blog through Brief. When I checked the feed in Firefox’s Live Bookmark system I was getting Live bookmark feed failed to load. I thought it was just a glitch on Firefox part as Yahoo! RSS was working okay. Then I noticed my headline animator for this blog was coming up as “Watch this space for future items”. Okay, the feed is defiantly broken, but why. Finally had sometime to dig into this problem and went into the Troubleshootize section of FeedBurner. After running a feed validatior I discovered…

Tip: Run Multiple Firefox Profiles/Versions Simultaneously

Ever tried to start Firefox while is it is running? Doesn’t work, you will get an error saying Firefox is already running. I have seen a trick over at CyberNet involving installing a portable version of Firefox, but that seems to be a lot of work. Plus, I already have several versions of Firefox installed. So I did a little more search and came across the mozillaZine KB article: Command line arguments The easiest way to take advantage of this is to modify your short-cuts. The short cut should be formatted as such: “Firefox.exe” -p “{PROFILE}” -no-remote (note: substitute the…

Fire.fm

Once again I have found another great add-on thanks to Gareon at GoFirefox! Last week he had posted a link to the article Mashable: 16 Great Music Add-Ons for Firefox. I had commented about FoxyTunes being one of the 16 and he mentioned he was trying out Fire.fm. The add-on allows you to control Last.fm (player) from within Firefox without having to have it opened in its own tab. When I first installed the add-on I was not too happy as it added the Fire.fm toolbar to my browser. I didn’t like this taking up my screen-space (not that it…

Trouble Deleting Messages

A member in my Thunderbird Help forum has posted this puzzling issue while running a portable U3 version of Thunderbird 2.0.0.18: When I go to delete an email – maybe I’ve read that mail or maybe it’s spam, should make no difference; however, sometimes the mail won’t delete (but then copies to the trash folder) and sometimes two messages will delete when I only had one selected and intended for deletion. In neither case am I happy with such results. I don’t need multiple copies of mail I want to delete and I certainly don’t want to delete unread, non-spam…
