. Firefox made a change to how URLs are displayed when visiting Web pages. Unfortunately, if you’re trying to find out if you’re on a secure connection by reading the protocol at the start of the URL, you can’t do that anymore. There is a known issue with the HTTPS Everywhere extension causing Firefox to crash. This bug was first reported in early August when Firefox 8 was still in the nightly build stage. From what I can see it appears that only Firefox 8 (now in Beta) and newer (9 Aurora and 10 Nightly) are affected by this. It does not appear to be affecting Firefox 7 or older. With the recent releases of Thunderbird to the Daily, Earlybird and Beta channels, there are updates for both Lightning and Provider for Google Calendar (gdata-provider) add-ons. You can not at this time update via the Thunderbird add-ons manager, you will need to manually download and install the correct version for both add-ons in order to get your calendar working again in your developmental version of Thunderbird. Mozilla has pushed out Thunderbird 9 to the Earlybird Channel on September 30th. This release is for testing/preview purposes. No release notes are available at this time. Thunderbird 8 Aurora users can update via Help > About Thunderbird or can download Thunderbird 9 Aurora from here. Final Thunderbird 9 release is scheduled for December 20th, 2011.
Mozilla has release an emergency update for Thunderbird 7.0 on September 30th. This release addressed issues with some add-ons disappearing when users updated to Thunderbird 7.0 release. This is the same issue that also affected the Firefox 7.0 release earlier this week which was addressed with the Firefox 7.0.1 update on September 29th.
