Over the past view days I have noticed the post Firefox 2.0: Close Tab Buttons has been the either most or second most viewed post on my blog. I have also been getting loads of comments about this post as well. I’ve noticed from these comments a lot of people don’t like the ‘Close Tab Button’ on every tab as is the standard practice with Firefox 2. A while back when I first started playing with Bon Echo (Firefox 2) I want to say while it was still in the Alpha builds, I liked having the close tab button on…

This month’s IEEE Spectrum Magazine cover story is The Firefox Kid (Blake Ross). The bulk of the article serves as an introduction to Blake Ross & Joe Hewitt’s joint project, Parakey. Other parts of the article include Blake’s childhood “as part of the first generation to grow up with the Internet.”, how Phoenix/Firebird/Firefox came about and an humorous account of a dinner with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer team after Firefox became popular. So you ask, what is Parakey? Here is Blake Ross’s description: “a Web operating system that can do everything an OS can do.” Translation: it makes it really easy…
Allrightythen, now that both Firefox 1.5.0.8 & Thunderbird 1.5.0.8 have been released there is not much Mozilla news right now. However, there is lots of Microsoft news, including some regarding Windows Vista: On November 8th, Microsoft announced Windows Vista is completed and will be released January 30, 2007. Todd Bishop (Seattle Post Intelligencer) did some checking in the Seattle area and discovered there are some PC retailers are getting orders for Windows Vista Systems, but still not much demand at this time. What Vista Sounds Like (Compared to Windows XP) QuickTime Video Actually, they sound very similar. Vista sounds however…

Mozilla has released the next version in the Firefox 1.5 branch. Per the release notes: Version 1.5.0.8 includes some minor security fixes: MFSA 2006-67 Running Script can be recompiled MFSA 2006-66 RSA signature forgery (variant) MFSA 2006-65 Crashes with evidence of memory corruption (rv:1.8.0.8) Also this version will contain the upgrade feature (which for now is inactive) which will allow you to upgrade to Firefox 2. While I have not seen an exact date for this, it likely be around the time Firefox 2.0.0.1 is released (later this year). Still in several places Mozilla clearly states: “All users are strongly…
I mentioned last week in my Colorful Tabs & Firefox 2 post, that Colorful Tabs Extension and Firefox 2 didn’t work well with each others. In the last couple days there as has been a couple new versions/attempts to get Colorful tabs to work correctly with Firefox 2. Version 1.5, released November 4th. This version just bumped the max version up to Firefox 2.0.0.* All. Still no close buttons on the tabs. Version 1.6, released November 5th. Per the release notes “Version 1.5 takes off the close btn from the tab. This has been fixed in v1.6.” So, after updating…

Last month I had pointed out in my post: ONE Lifetime Transfer with Windows Vista, a change to Microsoft EULA in regards to transferring your copy of Windows Vista to another device you owned. With the new changes you could make one transfer for the lifetime of the product without having to purchase a new license. From CyberNet News >>Vista Entices PC Enthusiasts With License Changes: Windows Vista Team Blog had to say about it: You may uninstall the software and install it on another device for your use. You may not do so to share this license between devices….
