Recently a comment was left on my Get Mail Extension stating the add-on was no longer on AMO (addons.mozilla.org) and provided a link to his Toolbar Buttons extension. Once installed and you restart Firefox (SunBird, Flock or Thunderbird) right-click on the toolbar and select ‘Customize…’ , you will discover a treasure trove of new toolbar buttons. Simply drag and drop the buttons to your toolbar. Important: be sure to click ‘Done’ when finished. If you click the X instead, your changes will not be saved. A couple buttons I found useful were Undo Close Tab and Check for Update (much…

I’ve received a couple e-mails concerning the link in the Get Mail Extension entry not working. After a little research I found out the extension was no longer on the main AMO (addons.mozilla.org) section or even in the sandbox. Further research via Google I found out the author’s site for Get Mail (he also did ChromEdit Plus) extensions. From the Get Mail FAQs: When AMO recently updated their site… It was MY personal decision to remove ALL of my extensions from AMO at this point in time. All of his extensions are hosted on his webdesigns site. The link in…
Extension developers have been told they need to make their extensions work for Fx 2 or they will be removed from the general Mozilla Add-ons site. Starting July 9th any extensions that does not work with Fx 2.0 will be moved into the Sandbox. There is really no excuse for the extension developers not to have working versions for Fx 2 other than they don’t want to. It is not like they haven’t had enough time given Fx 2 was released in October 2006 and support for Fx 1.5 was suppose to end in April but was extended until late…
Sounds as if the Ubuntu founders either think Microsoft is bluffing with the threat of patent infringements or could be they are not falling for Microsoft’s patent protection deal (blackmail) . Novell, Xandros, Linspire … and Ubuntu? Nope, it’s not gonna happen, says Mark Shuttleworth, the founder of the popular Linux distribution, debunking rumors that Ubuntu will be the next to agree to a patent protection deal with Microsoft. “Allegations of ‘infringement of unspecified patents’ carry no weight whatsoever. We don’t think they have any legal merit, and they are no incentive for us to work with Microsoft on any…

The most recent nightly build (for those of you on the ‘nightly’ channel) for Bon Echo on the Win32 platform is 2007061714 and can be obtained via the normal update process (Help >> Check For Updates). I was able to successfully download this update this morning. There was NOT a nightly update for June 16th. This issue was only affecting the Win32 builds. For some odd reason the builds were not propagating from the Tinder Box to the FTP servers. See Bug 383775 for more details.
While I was over on the Firefox Builds forum looking for a solution to my update issues, I came across this interesting thread Safari Windows trashed Minefield.
