Firefox 11.0, 10.0.3 ESR and 3.6.28 Delayed

Mozilla has opted to err on the side of caution and has announced the delay of this Tuesday’s planned releases. These include the release of Firefox 11.0 (Desktop and Android), 10.0.3 ESR and 3.6.28 builds. A couple reasons for this delay:

  • Possible conflicts (as has happened in the past) with Microsoft’s Windows Update Tuesdays.
  • Reports from ZDI about a security vulnerability that could require a patch for the upcoming releases.

Mozilla plans on still doing the planned releases this week, but a couple days later to see how everything plays out, Speaking of security vulnerabilities Firefox 3.6 was updated back on February 17th to version 3.6.27. We missed this one as there was never a formal announcement made through the regular channels, plus we rarely do any testing on the soon to be retried 3.6.x branch. Thanks to Ken for pointing this out to us.

  1. I think it’s err on the side of caution not error on the side of caution.

  2. The correct term is err on the side of caution (with two r’s) NOT er on the side of caution. See http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/err_on_the_side_of_caution

    • Thanks for catching that. WordPress in Firefox acts weird when I am on the laptop and deleted too many letters when I had changed it from ‘error’.
