Note: This feature is only available in Firefox 4. There may be currently or soon an add-on to add this functionality to Firefox 3.6 and older. Okay, I had forgotten about this feature as it was introduced very early on around the first beta as Tab Candy by Aza Raskin. This feature later became known as Tab Groups and Panorama the viewer. Panorama allows you to view thumbnails of your tabs in their respective groups and organize these groups (rename and delete groups as well as moving tabs between groups). As the name implies it allows you to group your…

When Firefox 4 is released, it is not going to be as an upgrade, but rather as an installer. You do not need to remove the old version of Firefox. However, by default when Firefox 4 goes to install it will likely try to install in the same folder as your present Firefox install. You can however avoid this by selecting Custom on the setup type. Then enter a new location (such as C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 4\ or C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox 4\ for those running 64-Bit Windows Vista or Windows 7 on the following screen: The downside to this…
Note: This article is going to be updated frequently over the next few days. Keep checking back for Updates and new () items since the original posting. After months of delays and well over a year in development, Firefox 4 is about to be released. At first glance the new interface can seem a bit over-whelming even for veteran Firefox users. So, I have put together a quick guide to Firefox 4. I am going to really focus on those changes that are going to take a little getting use to. Firefox Button – As part of an effort to…
I am anticipating some users may end up accidentally breaking their extensions trying to go back to Firefox 3.6 after trying out Firefox 4.0. The method below also solves pretty much any add-ons installation issues. Firefox will automatically disable any extension that is not compatible with build you are running. This will happen if you try to go back to an older (Firefox 3.6) version after already running the same profile in a newer version (4.0) of Firefox. However, even after you return to the correct version of Firefox, it will not automatically re-enable the disabled add-ons for you. The…

gareon posted this article at Go Firefox! as a follow up to the article earlier this week on how IE9 does not support Windows XP. …More than 40 percent of web users are still on Windows XP. And that’s the first thing Firefox engineering director Johnathan Nightingale brought up when I asked him about the issue. In an ironic twist, Mozilla’s upcoming Firefox 4is supporting not only Microsoft’s Windows XP but also Windows 2000, even though Microsoft’s new browser doesn’t. “That’s a decision that they get to make, but it sure did surprise us, because the best metrics that we’ve…

Unlike Microsoft’s latest release of Internet Exploiter Explorer (IE9). Via The Microsoft Blog/Seattle PI: You can download it here, but only if you’re using Windows 7 or Vista. Windows XP users aren’t invited to this party. IE9 won’t work on that nearly decade-old operating system. By not creating a version for XP, Microsoft is preventing a large majority of users from downloading and installing the latest browser. According to Net Applications’ data from February, Windows XP was used on 55 percent of the Windows machines that access the Web. That’s a huge number of computers that simply can’t run IE9….

Well, if that were the case why is Mozilla still doing updates? The latest version is Firefox 3.5.17 and in April they will release 3.5.18. But, upon first run after install users are presented with this screen: Also, there is no longer a link on the getfirefox.com to version 3.5 (or if there is it is well hidden). I do recall for the longest time on the Firefox 3.5 download page was an announcement that support would only be provided until August 2010. That announcement remained even after August 2010. This date as chosen for two possible reasons: This would…
