Attack Page Mishap

This morning we started getting emails from our regular subscribers letting us know The Blog was coming up as an Attack Page. We even got a couple ‘courtesy emails’ from our hosting provider as well. For most of the morning we worked will Google to identify the issue and remove all the malicious content. We were notified by Google earlier this evening the latest scan came back clean and they would be removing the Attack Page warnings. Firefox 8 Inverted (White) Toolbar Icons

Another change in Firefox 8 which was not very well documented is with small icons on dark Personas and glass is the icons are inverted (white). Also this applies to the default theme if Tabs on Top is turned off. This was as a result of Bug 671553. Normal Icons Inverted Icons I have created a Stylish Script that will un-invert the icons. However, it does not restore the actual button or glow effect though on some Personas.

Firefox 8 ‘Top crashes’

These two add-ons/programs seem to be causing the majority of startup crashes with Firefox 8. 1/ If you have the addon Roboform, be sure you have the latest version v7.6.2 because the previous versions of that addon cause crashes of FF Bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=691271 You can delete the addon folder in your profile which is {22119944-ED35-4ab1-910B-E619EA06A115} (Roboform GUID). 2/ If you have the program Rapport from Trusteer Ltd (security tool provided by banks etc to secure user transactions), remove it. Lightning Updates for Developmental Thunderbird Builds

Important: At least in the Thunderbird 11 Daily builds, you will need to manually update Lightning by going the the Calendar Versions page then down and install the correct version. As mentioned earlier this week Mozilla Lightning, the Thunderbird Calendar add-on had been updated for Thunderbird 8. Disable Firefox Add-on Controls

Note: This article may be updated in the coming days as we learn more about the new add-on controls in Firefox 8. As mentioned earlier this week, Firefox 8 introduced some new Add-on Controls that were designed more for single users. These incldued the ability to review and disable user installed add-ons on the first run of Firefox 8 as well as automatically disabling any 3rd party installed add-ons. Firefox 3.6.24 Released

Mozilla has release an update to Firefox 3.6 on November 8, 2011. Version 3.6.24 is a minor security and stability update for the Firefox 3.6/Gecko 1.9.2 branch. Users on Firefox 3.6.23 who are able to move to newer versions of Firefox (Firefox 5+) can not update to Firefox 3.6.24 automatically. Thunderbird 3.1.16 Released

Thunderbird 3.1.16 has been released. Users on 3.1.15 or older may update via Help > Check for Updates. This release included several fixes to improve stability and security, see the Security Advisory. For a more detailed list of bug fixes, see the complete list of changes in this version. Unless there is a firedrill release prior, the next version (3.1.17) will be released on December 20th, 2011.

Thunderbird 8 Released

Thunderbird 8 has been released on November 8th, 2011. Current Thunderbird 7.0.1 users can update via Help > About Thunderbird. Lightning users, after you have updated to Thunderbird 8.0, your calendars will be broken. To fix this go Tools > Add-ons and then in your add-ons list, find and right-click on Lightning, selecting Find Updates. Lightning will update to version 1.0 and once you restart Thunderbird, your calendars will be working again.
