As mentioned a couple days ago due to bug 451155 and bug 454708 in the newly released Firefox 3.0.2 release, Mozilla would be pushing out a patch with Firefox 3.0.3. Most of us were expecting to see this new version some time next week. However Mozilla developers have just pushed out the release of Firefox 3.0.3 tonight, fixing the problem where users were unable to retrieve saved passwords or save new passwords. Only two months (July 23rd) this time since there has been an update for Thunderbird 2. Today, Thunderbird 2.0.0.17 was released. Users will be prompted for an automatic update within the next 72 hours.Those wishing to upgrade now can do so via the Help Menu, Check For Updates option or by downloading the latest release at getthunderbird.com. Firefox 3.0.3 Released Bug #451155 found in the recent Firefox 3.0.2 release has been found to prevent access to saved passwords that include international characters either in the web address the password is saved for, the login, or the password itself. A firedrill update (Firefox 3.0.3) will be released sometime next week. New with the Firefox 3.0.2 release, Gmail has been bundled as a web mail provider. Gmail can automatically handle (in lieu of Thunderbird or Outlook) Send Link… (via file or context menu) and ‘Mailto’ links with a few short steps: Open the Options window (or Preferences on Linux and Mac), Click the Applications tab Type ‘mailto’ in the Search Field In the Action column Select Use Gmail.
