You may need to download Fx 2.0.0.2 from getfirefox.com in order to upgrade. Users on modified builds are also having issues going to 2.0.0.2 as well. I was reviewing the notes from the latest Mozilla developers meeting this past Monday (2007/01/29) and noticed some exciting news in the Thunderbird section. Besides announcing Thunderbird 2 Beta 2 being released last Wednesday (2007/01/24), there are now over 100,000 folks using the Beta 2 since its release. Even more encouraging, they are “on track” for an early March release for Thunderbird 2. Earlier this week the next Thunderbird 2 milestone, Beta 2 was released. We are getting closer to the final release of Thunderbird 2. According to the Roadmap, the estimated release is first quarter 2007. Given how late into January we are and also that there will still be a couple release candidates, I am going to guesstimate the final release sometime in March. Today Mozilla has released three major updates (postponed from December 14th): Firefox 1.5.0.9, likely to be the last release on the 1.5 builds. Remember, all support for the 1.5 builds will end on April 24, 2007. Firefox 2.0.0.1, 183 bug fixes including (but not limited too): Crashes (42), Memory Leaks (3), Regressions (41) and Privacy Related (4). This Friday, December 8th is the Community Testing Day for Firefox 15.0.9/2.0.0.1 along with Thunderbird 1.5.0.9/2.0b1. Also Firefox 2.0.0.1 RC1 is now on the nightlies directory. I noticed today my ‘about screen’ no longer shows as Bon Echo 2.0.0.1 Pre, just Bon Echo 2.0.0.1 The estimated release date for Firefox 1.5.0.9/2.0.0.1 (this may also include Thunderbird 1.5.0.9/2.0b1 builds as well) is Thursday, December 14th. As announced on CyberNet News earlier this week, Mozilla updated the Thunderbird 2 Roadmap. With this update is a revision of the release schedule and some of the features (more on this shortly). Now keep in mind for the past couple months it has been a ‘pre-beta’ release status.
