Microsoft Accusing Google of Antitrust!

Last weekend Google announced they were going to acquire online advertiser DoubleClick for a mere $3.1 billion. Also in the race to try and acquire DoubleClick was Microsoft. What could only be described as ironic, Microsoft along with AT&T are crying “Antitrust”. According to The New York Times Microsoft is claiming that the deal would “hurt competition in the fast-growing market for advertising on the Web and raise questions about how much personal information would be collected by Google.” Microsoft is usually the target of these antitrust battles, and now they find themselves on the other side. AT&T is already…

Weekly Update 2007-04-16

Some big news from today’s meeting: Fx 1.5.0.12/2.0.0.4 Code Freeze is set for this Friday (04/20) but currently their are 60 open blocker bugs on the branch. The last release date I had saw was sometime in Mid-May. So technically, support for the 1.5.0.X builds will not end on April 24th. Major Update has been pushed back until after this next build release. Actually this makes a lot of sense, since Fx 1.5.0.12 is going to be the last build on the 1.5.0.X branch. More details on this to come in the following week. Thunderbird 2 is coming very, very…

Firefox 4 Tag Added

While I may not be posting much about Firefox 4 for a few more months (after Fx 3 is released), I have gone ahead and added a Firefox 4 tag. It is likely to be released around the same time IE8 comes out (sort like the IE7 vs Fx 2 this past fall). Here are some details about Fx 4 from my Firefox Year in Review post (which is located in the Popular Posts section): Firefox 4, is going to based on the Gecko 2 platform which is going to be quite different than the past Geckos. It will also…

Firefox BBC News Article

Many saw the release of Firefox 2 last fall as a major step forward for new features and innovations with Firefox. A BBC News Article discusses some of the planned features in the upcoming Firefox 3 and Firefox 4 releases and how these are going to change the way we use the internet. The difference between online and offline, the web and the desktop will blur in the near future, Mozilla’s Mike Schroepfer has said.
