This has to be by far the best extension I have seen for Thunderbird yet! I really hope this becomes a standard feature in TBird 3 as this makes viewing links in e-mail so, so easy! The extension installs a min-browser in the preview pane. When you are viewing e-mails the preview pane behaves as normal displaying the e-mail’s content. However, click on a link in the e-mail and it will load up the page right there in Thunderbird. Hunspell has replaced the old MySpell spell check engine in Thunderbird 3. Hunspell also replaced MySpell in OpenOffice.org last year. Good news is dictionaries that are already installed while for MySpell will work with the Hunspell engine. Hunspell offers support for Asian languages, Unicode support, morphological analysis and support for complex compounds and agglutinative languages like Azeri, Basque, Estonian and Hungarian. No word at this time when Hunspell will replace MySpell in Fx 2.0.0.X/3.X or TBird 2. News Source: Mozilla Links

Next time you are giving a presentation or just trying to show someone something on your computer and it starts acting up, simply use the stall-tactic “I think it’s a problem with Vista“. That is what happened the other day as a team of students from Korea showed Microsoft’s Bill Gates and Craig Mundie its entry in the company’s Imagine Cup competition. Of course it wasn’t just Gates and Mundie, there was also a ton of media looking on too. The presentation started off well, until the team launched into its demo, and the computer stalled momentarily. That was when…
Thunderbird like Firefox does have about:config settings. But, how the heck do you get to about:config in Thunderbird since there is no address bar to type about:config in. The access to about:config is well hidden: From Tools, select Options…, Click the Advance Tab, select (if it is not already) the General sub-tab and finally click the Config Editor… button. Note: On TBird 3 builds you will get a “This gun is loaded!” warning message the first time (and each time if you don’t disable) you access this option. Click for Full Size Image Alternatively, if you don’t want to go…
The newest Thunderbird 3.0a1pre nightly (062707) now has tabs support. It doesn’t work very well, but it is important to keep in mind TBird 3.0 is still in very early development (not even an official Alpha release yet). A couple minor quirks, the close tab buttons are there but don’t do anything (need to right click on the tab and select “Close Tab’). Also double-clicking a message will cause it to open in a new window. You will need to right-click on the message and select ‘Open Message In New Tab’ option. TBird 3 is also very unstable as it…
