As mentioned in today’s Weekly Update, a serious regression involving Firefox 2.0.0.8 and JAVA (JRE 1.6 update 3)on Windows Vista ONLY has been identified. Bug 400467: Java broken on Vista after Firefox 2.0.0.8 upgrade (says Java Not Found, Or Not Working). This update fixes eight security vulnerabilities including two labeled critical, along with other 100+ stability and performance patches. Nearly 3 months after we reviewed Netscape 9.0b2, the final version of Netscape Navigator 9 has been released today. Netscape Navigator uses the same Gecko engine as Firefox 2 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.8pre) Gecko/20071015 Firefox/2.0.0.7 Navigator/9.0) and is available for Windows, Mac OSX or Linux. Further since it is based on Firefox 2, extensions are cross-browser compatible.
