Can Google Hear Me?

I came across this amazing story earlier today on CyberNet. Aaron Stanton has this novel idea (which he has not disclosed to us the reader, yet) which he is sure Google is going to love. Since 2003 he has thought about flying out to Mountain View, California to the Googleplex to present the idea. He has come close many times, but has always backed out at the last second. Finally this past Sunday, February 11th he made the trip to California. He brought along his video camera, laptop and the presentation for his idea in multiple formats (Mac, Windows, and…

A Blog Search Engine?

Okay, I admit I am still relatively new (started in May) to this whole blogging thing. I will also admit, I never gave much thought to a Blog Search Engine until I came across these articles; The State of Blog Search Engines: Depressing as well as Google Blog Search Surpasses Technorati. So this got me thinking, “What is the difference between a normal and a blog search engine”. Okay other than the obvious, a blog search engine only searches blogs. But doesn’t a normal search engine search blogs as well? Further how does a blog search engine only search blogs?…

Alt Predictions 2007

Not your ordinary or boring predictions, Wired News columnist Lore Sjöberg goes out on a limb. Predictions include New RIAA Lawsuits, Nintendo Wii & Aliens, images from Mars, Nokia’s newest ‘do everything’ (sort of) cellphone, and more…including my personal favorite prediction, this one about Google: “After another round of acquisitions, including MySpace, Flickr, Yelp and Barry’s Totally Awesome Whitesnake Tribute Page, Google runs out of websites to buy. It decides accordingly to acquire itself for an unprecedented $10.4 billion in stock. “Google is the leader in search and a strong competitor in several other online venues,” says a Google spokesman….

Is Google Secure?

I get a lot of flack from folks when I tell them I use Yahoo’s web ‘features’ (mail, calendar, maps, etc) instead of Google. Frankly, I don’t trust Google there are just too many ‘incidents’ involving Google and security. There has been a couple “leaks” about their GDrive code named Platypus online data-storage client. On Wednesday, Techcrunch posted this eye-opening article: Google: Security Mishaps and User Trust. Google pushing their “office strategy” is wanting businesses and individuals to use Google servers to store their documents. “The fact that unauthorized document access is a simple password guess or government “request” away…

YouTube SOLD! to Google

Okay, so I guess it wasn’t a rumor after all…It has been officially announced YouTube has been acquired by Google for the low price of $1.65 billion. Now, according to the press release, everything is going to stay the same. They will as remain two independent services and no one is going to be out of a job. From a marketing stand point, it is good Google as opted to keep the YouTube name and site as is. More folks are familiar with the YouTube experience and community then they would be of that with Google Videos. However, based by…

Update: YouTube by Google?

Earlier I had reported a possible e-mail rumor about Google in talks of acquiring YouTube. There has been a lot of talk about this from Wall Street Journal to many of the major tech blogs. So, this may be not just be a rumor after all. According to the Yahoo! article: Report: Google in talks to buy YouTube, “Representatives from Google and YouTube did not immediately return calls to The Associated Press.” It would seem to me if this were just a mere ‘rumor’ the AP would have heard back from one these two companies, even if it is just…
